Vše někdy doslouží, vše na tomto světě má omezenou životnost. Pravda, rozdíly jsou zde propastné, jepice žije den a slunce miliardy let. Ale i ono jednou zanikne. A prý jednou i celý Vesmír. My se však podíváme na věci běžné potřeby a třeba na nábytek. Staré a poctivé dřevo ze kterého se kdysi vyráběl vydrželo opravdu hodně. Dědil se z generace na generaci a teprve až ta moderní jej prostě vyhodila. Místo něj si pořídila moderní z jakési slepeniny dřeva. Je skvělý, jen se nesmí otevírat šuplata, a dveře ve skříních. Zadní stěnu je většinou nutno přibít drobnými hřebíčky, nebo zasunout do drážky.

Ona to totiž není stěna doslova, ale jen asi tři milimetry tenké něco, co není ani pořádně pevné, neb se to před použitím různě prohýbá. Ale s tím nic nenaděláme, je to moderní, a navíc se stejně v podstatě dlouho nic jiného nedělalo. Teprve poslední dobou přichází opět klasické dřevo ke slovu. A to tak, že je z něj celá skříň, nejen její část. Nu, nemusí být všechno ze dřeva, k zařízení bytu patří přece také jiné věci. Jde jen o to, jak je skloubit, aby to nebylo kýčovité a aby to prostě také nějak vypadalo. Něco takového dát dohromady vyžaduje mimo jiné také takový nějaký zvláštní cit.
